Newt

I saw you
One last time
Don't know why
Curious boy

Amazed to see
How empty you are
How love is blind
Explain the dark

That never fades
When i try and see
What I saw in you
Beyond your face

No one laughs
At all your jokes
Except for you
So keen to fake.

You claim to hate
Superficial depth
With weighted gesture
You gesticulate

So all can see
How sincere you are
I despise the mask
That hides your truth

I saw you
One last time
For what you are
One last goodbye

In The City Tonight

The rain dropped
As you were breathing in bed
Dancing with the dreams
That floated in your head

The night refleted
Across wet streets stones
With the foot steps and traffic lights
Calling your name back home

When they greet you
They'll smile and embrace
You lose yourself in them
But wake up in a new place

Where there is a Songbird
That is waiting just outside
With notes made for me and you
Even though we tried to hide

And when the song ends
At that phone rings
You'll try and talk
But your voice only sings

Flip Flop

Hip hop and you don’t stop
Spending your money on honeys and big rocks

Hip hop; please spend your dough
On those that you owe, that mined the diamonds you show?

Hip hop. Would you please stop?
Claiming you’re ghetto, when I know that you’re not

Hip hop, you used to be out of control
The voice of the people, a sequel to punk rock.

Hip hop, your milk’s going sour
You poisoned the grass your cash cow devours

Hip hop, you spiked it with greed
Now the cow start starts to bleed, it's going weak at the knees

Hip hop; how do you keep from going under?
Because you’re an institution now, not a renegade undercover

Hip Hop; You’re only keeping real
With the Ninja Tunes on the wheels of steel

Hip Hop: You’re harder to find
Too deeply mined by megalomaniacs unkind
