Proximity

The streetlights run up the highway like the teeth of a zipper and shine light into your room as you are laying asleep in your bed, dreaming of driving to all those far away places away from where you are.

Walk Away

Why are you running when nothing's calling out to you?
Why are you going without knowing what you want to do?
Do you believe that if you choose to leave
You're getting a reprieve from all that you've achieved?
No matter where you go, you always know where you have been.

And now you've chosen not to stay
I can see you are afraid
Now you have to face the day
You walk away
Walk away

When you go, do you know what you hope to find?
Or will you turn and yearn for what you left behind?
Will you feel relieved or will you feel deceived
With no-one there to see your victories and defeats?
Reeling in the feelings, dealing with them on your own?

And now you've chosen not to stay
I can see you are afraid
Now you have to face the day
You walk away
Walk away

You're gonna walk away
There's nothing I can say
To try and make you stay
(repeat)

Blown away
to stutter and die
The caterpillar who forgot
it was a butterfly
