Out running the fences
Back where we were
Those lonely people
Last tastes of cement
Cigarette ashes
Little halos that chase the tired eyes
Split rusted links
Little voices calling names
When caught in the wind
Moments together
Floating on water
Washing down the drain
Crisscrossing touches
Run down our sides
Deep as barbed wire
You’re just like a star
But you never shine like the sun
Two blue eyes
That could open up slowly
Covering everything with
Snow
White
Feathers
Just shine like the sun
Back where we were
Those lonely people
Last tastes of cement
Cigarette ashes
Little halos that chase the tired eyes
Split rusted links
Little voices calling names
When caught in the wind
Moments together
Floating on water
Washing down the drain
Crisscrossing touches
Run down our sides
Deep as barbed wire
You’re just like a star
But you never shine like the sun
Two blue eyes
That could open up slowly
Covering everything with
Snow
White
Feathers
Just shine like the sun

oh yes!
:-)
I just read this again.
The quote I chose for my last comment is so economical. It says so much - injuring one another with the most well meaning of touches.
I loved this line too:
"Moments together
Floating on water
Washing down the drain"
Thanks!
I really thought of changing the second last line to just a dash mark.
