3 Poems

Not my best work, but I wrote these lastnight to have something to put on the site.

Dive

Slowly.
The drips
Turn,
Into a steady stream.
And then,
The waters rise.
And then,
The pipes break.
You watch.
As
They all
Get swept away.

Untitled

They have shiny and clean
White teeth.
These go “clickity-clack!”
“Clickity-clack!”
They have meaty,
Grease stains.
From all those lunch hours,
Giddy-drunk swap meets.
They build their fences.
They park their cars.
They talk on their phones.
And when you look in,
Deep enough.
You see your reflection
Beaming back to you.
With a perfect smile.
On those,
Shiny.
White.
Teeth.

A Tourniquet

There is a burn,
Slowly creeping up those veins.
You have a fist to untie,
So, dig it in deep.
And tear out the new high.

People we drift like the plates of the earth
Breaking and forming by natural force
Nothing to anchor and keep us together
That powers beyond us can't alter forever

Nature is strong and we have to be stronger
Fire and water can tear us asunder
Anchor yourself to somebody tender
You may survive the force of the tremors

If you should find you are washed from your rock
Reach out for another for it never stops
You may be the stone that somebody clings to
Weathering storms with someone who needs you

And when you are dead you go back to the earth
Like everything does and everything should
The struggle is over and the madness is gone
Silent in reverence to earth you belong
